em's trip to the biennale

So here are a few highlights from my visit to Cockatoo Island. I went with Kelly, when she was visiting. We went to the MCA first, then caught the free ferry. What a great way to show her Sydney.
As well as the artworks, we loved exploring the island and its old buildings. The photo above shows how so many of the artworks were really enhanced by the places they were displayed in.

The colours in this one just blew my mind! The room was full of these 'flower' arrangements. Check out Soph's profile pic to see that when folded up the large ones are actually the shape of machine guns.

Yep, I loved the buildings. Here are just a few photos of the lines and shapes I appreciated.

I like pie!

so this post is about 3 months late, but better late than never, right?

After watching Pushing Daisies in June when I was in Wollongong for a few nights, we all had a craving for pie. Soph and I went over to her house and made this apple and berry pie, with a bit of pear thrown in because it was there. It was pretty yum!
The theme continued when a few days later I made a pumpkin pie. I didn't take a picture though.

I was so excited by pumpkin pie I bought a big pumpkin, cooked it all (burnt my fingers in the process of baking it), mashed it and froze the rest after making a pie and soup.

A few weeks later, I used the rest of the pumpkin to make another pie for a competition between Ailsa and I, after we'd challenged each other to a bake off. The judges were very kind, giving me the award for best presentation, and her the award for best flavour of the filling.

In the words of Barack Obama: "I like pie!"
